Letterfold

Word puzzleJavaScriptWeb + Mobile
The brief

What we set out to prove

Word puzzles still hold attention if the daily is honest and the campaign is a real ladder, not 2,000 generated boards. Letterfold is a fold-and-find word game: a daily puzzle everyone shares, and 8 packs of 25 handcrafted levels for people who want more than one hit a day.

The challenge

What made it hard

Wordle clones stall after the daily. Crossword apps stall when the next puzzle is a paywall. We wanted zero install for the daily (web first), a campaign with an actual difficulty curve, and no timer shaming people who think slowly.

Our approach

How we solved it

Daily is one puzzle, same for everyone, resets midnight local. Campaign is 8 packs × 25 levels. Pack 1 is three-letter folds. Pack 2-3 introduce blockers and locked tiles. Pack 4-5 are themed word lists (kitchen, travel). Pack 6-7 are tight boards with decoy letters. Pack 8 is expert. A wrong fold just undoes - no lives. Hints cost optional coins from dailies, not from failing. PWA wrapper for the store; same save if you started in the browser.

Campaign structure

8 packs × 25 levels = 200 handcrafted stages + 1 daily

The result

What shipped

People who came for the daily started a pack the same week. That is the conversion we wanted. Instant play means a tweet can be the store page. Campaign means there is a product after the streak.
